Great post by Arron. I wonder if the simple fact of trying to identify and “use” motivators of your students is in of itself  “manipulation.”  Students will always be aware that the company wants them to be involved in the training and thusly are getting something out of it (more efficiency, more $$$, certification, less chance of lawsuits, etc.)

Personally I’ve never understood why people need to be “motivated” to learn, but I was raised by a teacher so maybe that’s my own form of motivation…
